What are the pros and cons to english and western riding?

First of all, i know this isn't horse racing, but they didn't have a good topic so... I am just beginning horseback riding and i don't know which to do. Which would be easier for me, or doesn't it matter? I see alot more poeple who ride Western.. is that important or no? I thought i wanted to do English but i don't know anymore. I am only planning on doing trail riding for now... Maybe jumping or something later. Please help me!
