I am about to do my first crown molding install - I have a new Bench Dog jig and two 93 degree inside corners?
any assistance or guidance will be appreciated. Tomorrow the bathroom, then it's on to an office and when competent I'll do the dining and living rooms - all on weekends - slow and steady as we repaint and maintain an abundant yard and garden.
I have installed miles of crown molding in my 30 yr's of building. The right tools are key to a easy install. First tool is a compound miter saw. There are many good ones out there. You might be able to borrow one or rent one if you do not have one. My personal favorite is the Makita 10"in. But that's just me. The next tool is a protractor. You must know the degree of the corner you are going to fit. Be it an inside out outside corner. Next really helpful tool is a crown cutting chart. These little sheets of info. will save you a ton of time and wasted material. In brief use the protractor to get the degree's. Look on your chart for the exact match. set your saw to the (2) angles shown on chart. Cut two small pieces, about 6'in. and test the fit. Adjust your cut if needed and off you go.
