how do i install a water line for a ice maker on my refridgerater?
i bought the plastic line kit but it has no instructions!
Look for a saddle connection. This is brass, has small turn valve on it. Open it all the way. It should have a clamp arrangement on it to connect to a cold water line. Turn the water off at the sink, in case of an accident. Clamp the valve arrangement around the cold water pipe of the kitchen sink above it's turn off valve. Turn the attachment around so the water outlet points in a convenient direction towards the refrigerator and tighten the two clamps bolts to secure the valve to the water pipe. Do not turn either valve on. Attach the water feed to the refrigerator to the valve. Be careful to keep everything straight and neat and do not strip the threads. Tighten the plastic line nut securely but don't play Tarzan. run the plastic line to your refrigerator and attach the plastic line to it the same way you did at the other end. When all is said and done go back under the sink, cross your fingers, shoo your wife out of the room in case you goofed and turn the small valve down into itself. This action pierces the water pipe allowing water to flow. Turn the small valve backwards. Turn the water pipe valve back on. Check for leaks at each end of the plastic line. Tighten etc as needed. Go to the freezer compartment and if water is flowing into the ice maker, call your wife back in and brag.
