Dell Laptop Monitor Trouble?

My Daughter has a Dell Laptop and the monitor comes on as the PC Boots but as the desktop icons are being populated the screen goes black. You can hold a flashlight to the screen and read it. There is a box that appears that says: RUNDLL Error Loading c:windowssystem32ledalesa.dll (Yes I am a computer idiot). When the machine is shut down the screen will light back up as the system shuts down. I have tried rebooting, virus scans, started in "SAFE" mode and reset monitor, and restoring to another date. Is it a setting issue or something going on the blink? Help!

I would of said the power inverter is broken and needs to be replace, but this is just weird, it lights back up when shutting down.....

Try pressing the Fn key, and the should be an F key with a picture of a laptop/computer monitor, mine is the F5 key, try holding down the Fn key and pressing appropriate F key
