Why is it safe to ride in a cashel soft saddle (which has stirrups), but not in a bareback pad with stirrups?
Neither have a tree, right?
My dear, old, ancient friend is giving me her cashel saddle. I'm planning on getting breastcollar to help hold it in place, and a soft saddle pad to go under it, I'm just a little concerned still about slipping since it has stirrups on it.
How safe is it REALLY to ride in a cashel saddle since it has stirrups??
A cashel has a lot more support and form than a bareback pad. Also, its a lot safer for the horse. A regular bareback pad puts pressure on their withers and spine because there isnt enough support cushioning the weight of the rider through the stirrups.
