how to use, when to use, and how to care for a saltwater reel?
I'm just going to answer the "how to care for a salt water reel" part of your question.
There is a great debate as to whether to rinse it off with fresh water after fishing in the salt. Some say that spraying it with the water hose forces the salt deeper into the reel. I disagree. I rinse it off gently with the water hose and let it dry then wipe it down with a clean cloth. I take off the spool and put a drop of oil on the moving parts and gears. I break them completely down in the winter time when I'm not fishing and clean it real good inside and out then re-spool. I've had them for years and use them several times of month.
