Buck Vantage select large or Spyderco Tenacious?
I was looking at the buck vantage select large and spyderco tenacious and was wondering what some opinions are on them. Which would you prefer and why. I was specifically looking at the blade steels. The buck has 420HC and the spyderco has 8cr13mov which I understand is better but I also heard that bucks heat treatment is exceptional. Other recommendations are welcome in the <$30 range. I'm looking for something inexpensive so I'm not thinking about the vantage avid or pro. Thanks for the help.
Blade steels are probably going to perform about the same (the difference won't be noticeable in real life), blade geometry is probably going to be more important. Between Buck and Spyderco, I'd take Spyderco all day long. I like Bucks, have more than a few of them, but Spyderco is just another level. I own knives that cost me several hundred dollars, but one of my favorite and most carried knives is still the tenacious. As already suggest Kershaw also makes some great knives around your price range.
